People who know me know that my least favorite thing about Kansas City is the weather. I don’t do a lot of complaining in spring and fall (although I do miss the vivid colors on the trees) but I think I more than make up for it in the summer and winter. July and August are probably the worst and this is why:
Kansas City is in a heat advisory warning until tomorrow night and believe it or not tomorrow is forecasted to be slightly cooler than today! They don’t list the heat index here, but I heard on the radio it’s supposed to feel like 105 and the rain will only contribute by making it more humid (i.e. miserable).

Here’s tomorrow’s forecast for my hometown of Troy:

And let me assure you, 90 degrees is pretty warm for July, just look at the 5 day forecast:

Please also notice the overnight lows. Even on a “hot” 90 degree day you still get a breather at night. Growing up I would go to church camp on Lake Huron and I remember having to pack for the morning, the afternoon and the evening (although you could wear the same thing in the morning and at night, but I’m a girl and would not be caught dead wearing the same thing twice!) because the temperature changed that much.
It’s about this time every year that I desperately long for the sweet summers of Michigan.
